Those bins of old CDs in the garage…

The kitchen drawer stuffed with plastic cutlery from the drive through…

Unwanted Christmas gifts you feel guilty about discarding…

The giant bin of tangled mystery cords…

Does any of this sound familiar?

Well, we promise you’re not the only one! Modern life is full of stuff conundrums. Many people find themselves drowning in clutter, but are unsure how to make a change. We have worked with many people to get confidently to the other side of these dilemmas so they can feel good in their homes.

Waiting on the other side of this work is the feeling of your home taking a long-awaited, deliciously deep breath. We still feel an exhilarating thrill with every transformation.

Wondering what our process is like?

In Acorn & Oak’s home organizing work, we are a goal-oriented presence. We come in ready get our hands dirty (or dusty) as we make over your home. We recognize that letting someone into your space in this way requires a great deal of trust and vulnerability, and we don’t take that lightly.

Our process is tailored to your goals, personality, and budget. Some people who call us are completely overwhelmed and don’t even know where to begin. Others have everything planned out, and just need an extra set of hands and some company. There is room for all of it.

The basic ingredients of a home organizing overhaul are generally the same. We go through all of the items in the space and sort them into keep/donate/sell categories. Depending on the space and your goals, this can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a few months. After that comes the fun part! We make a plan to put the space back together and give every item a designated home.

A tailored blend of hands-on help, practical tips, and emotional support:

  • giving input and feedback on difficult decisions around what goes and what stays

  • labeling boxes

  • moving things where they need to go

  • folding clothes

  • talking about stories and memories attached to your belongings

  • taking photos and writing up descriptions for things you want to sell online

  • suggestions for systems we can implement to manage clutter in the future

Our sessions also include:

  • an initial complimentary consultation call

  • a complimentary donations haul-off at the end of every session, to Goodwill or another donations spot nearby

It’s dynamic work. And it’s always worthwhile.

Cornelia and Madison have been helping my mother as she prepares for a major move, downsizing from a large house into a small cottage in a retirement community. Their patience, perseverance, and tender care have greatly eased the stress of such a big transition. These women are professional, responsive, and so very thoughtful in their approach. I cannot recommend Acorn and Oak highly enough!

“I am pleased to offer the highest recommendation of Cornelia as a home organization expert. I began using her services during the pandemic in late 2021 and into 2022.

She is intelligent, kind, thorough, creative, thoughtful, and exhibits an exemplary servant’s heart. She advised freely while also honoring my (sometimes crazy) ideas.

We worked through every closet (shelves and floors), drawer (kitchen, bathrooms, all furniture) and we then tackled the attic & garage, the largest challenge of all. We efficiently categorized every single item as save, donate, or discard. Because our home is one into which we had “down-sized,” space is limited and Cornelia freely pushed me to make the difficult realizations that I could not keep everything.

She taught me new space-saving ways of folding clothes, linens, etc, and even referred me to other small-business professionals to perform other tasks, such as flooring the attic. In short, Cornelia saved my children a lot of future clean-out as I am approaching old(er) age. She is a blessing indeed!”

Cornelia has been such a tremendous help to me! She is calm, kind, zero judgement, and does not force you to get rid of things if you’re not ready to but encourages you to ask yourself how much you need it. She also works quickly and gets so much done in the time but it also never felt rushed. I don’t know how she does it but she was made for organizing. I am continuing to use her for all my organizing needs. I feel like I’ve finally found someone I can trust with such personal work and I’m so incredibly grateful!
